Is Bush Drinking Again?
The most important question we as a nation can ask right now is: Is President Bush consuming alcohol? Some people, in particular the National Enquirer, think this is very important. One Seattlite sees evidence in Bush's need for a bathroom break, in his fall from a bicycle, and a slurred incoherent speech Bush gave in April of 2004. Others take the possibility that Bush is drinking to an extreme.
From The Gaelic Starover:
The Oval Office is occupied by a man who is physically and mentally incapacitated and ethically and intellectual unqualified for the task before him.Folks, America is on a hazardous road, with a drunken madman at the wheel.
Geesh. So now we don't just Blame Bush... we can Blame Bush's Drinking too!!!
I don't get it. Ask yourself if you have ever done any of these things while sober.
1) Fall off of a bicycle.
2) Been nervous while making a speech.
3) Had to pee.
4) A million other stupid things.
Is it likely that George W. Bush is drinking again? I don't have a clue. Is it likely he's a secret drunk. Probably not. To see things like that in ordinary behavior, you have to be looking for something wrong with him in the first place.
Perhaps that's why the left thinks he's so stupid... but I don't think he's any dumber than anyone else. I wouldn't claim he's a genius, but his intelligence is probably mediocre at worst... he doesn't do anything dumber than you or I. Maybe they just like to tear him down so they can build themselves up. Kerry didn't strike me as any smarter... just because you use a lot of words doesn't mean you're smarter. I find it generally means you're overcompensating.

Want to try something neat sometime?
Go to an alcohol counselor or a rehab program or even an alcoholism evaluator. Tell them you have more than one drink a week, or more than three drinks a month. Or alternatively, tell them that when you go out, you have more than two drinks in a night. Guess what? You're an alcoholic!
Man, I ran into this crap all the time when I was working as a defense attorney.
Seriously, what the hell. That means that EVERY SINGLE PERSON EVER IN A FRATERNITY OR SORORITY is an alcoholic. Damn near anyone that's ever gone to a wedding reception is an alcoholic. Anyone between the ages of 21-26 who isn't asleep on a Friday night between the hours of 11pm-2am is an alcoholic.
Give me a break. "Alcoholism" and it's more vulgar synonyms are PC-modified bullshit terms with definitions that vary depending on who you're trying to demonize.

Tim, you are very off base with your comments about the term "alcohlism". There are very clear diagnostic methods that determine whether a person is a "social drinker", "alcohol abuser", or "alcoholic". I have worked in a number of substance abuse facilities and have been in recovery for almost 22 years. When Bush was running for president in 2000 and I heard about his history with alcohol my armchair diagnosis was that he is a "dry drunk". He stopped drinking (maybe) but never got any help. If he has started drinking again we are in for a real disaster- not that he has done a good job while abstinent!

If you say so.
I'm speaking directly from my experiences in my role as an attorney. Alcohol treatment/evaluations are pretty much routine for any defendant that gets a DUI, and those "treatment centers" pretty much label everyone a drunk.
Part of me wonders if it's because they know that they're criminal defendants, and they've got them over a barrel. If the defendants want their life back, the "treatment centers" can easily bilk them out of hundreds of dollars in treatment costs before they'll sign off on a positive evaluation.
Those places are so shady.

Why are we in for a real disaster if he's started drinking? I mean, first off, does anybody think Bush is REALLY that important to the fate of this country? I know the left wants to blame him for everything, but outside of fantasy world, what exactly is he going to do if he's drinking that will be harmful. I thought he was just a puppet of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney? As long as he shows up and smirks a lot, what will change?
