Solstice Out, Civic and MX-5 In

So after seeing the Solstice yesterday, I'm just underwhelmed. It didn't do anything for me... it was nice, but not "two year waiting list, no trunk room, weird roof, made in America" nice. Just too many strikes against it. If my heart had skipped a beat, I'd get it. As is, the beat-up 72 Challenger I saw today in Redmond got a bigger reaction from me.

So Jennifer and I stopped at the Honda dealer and looked at a new Civic. It's nice... really nice. It's a lot nicer than I thought it would be. Even the interior... very classy.

It might make a good car for Jennifer, too. A little underpowered for my tastes... but perfect for her. Maybe we should get that and I'll drive mine when needed.

Meanwhile, I took a look at the new MX-5, and it's actually pretty nice. The Miata has this classic look to it, and I felt the MX-5 wasn't new enough... but it's nice, it's lighter than the Solstice, and the roof comes in tan! There's no waiting list, it has a huge trunk (for a convertible), and best of all it's not made in America. Isn't that sad?

I think I'd get it in gray. First thing I'd do with one is remove the Mazda emblem.
