The Adventures of Fluff, Part 2

Fluff is such a sweety! He had his first car trip outside his carrying box Saturday and he loved it! There's some new pictures of him on the message board, located here. He was having so much fun in the car, laying in the back with me, looking out the window! He also loves climbing our fake Christmas tree!

That same Saturday, we took Fluff to Michael's parent's house. He got to meet his extended family, including Melvin and Tully! He was nervous at first, but he became less so and tried to play with Tully a bit. We want to get him as socialized with people and other cats as we can.

Fluff is my first kitten ever, so I just love him so much. He loves to sleep with Michael and me, and when we get home from school, he greets us by running to us meowing for loves! He's such a sweetheart.

The Adventures of Fluff, Part 1

It's his fourth day home and he's quite the curious kitten! Today he attempted to climb into the fire place (and almost succeeded at getting completely in it), and we discovered that picking him up by his neck, spraying him with water, and gently scolding him are no deterant to his curiousity. Most of the time, he just kept on purring and trying to do what he wanted. The water didn't even phase him. I think his fur is so thick he doesn't even notice. Not to mention, my mom and I have had to give him two baths since he's been here, so he's probably used to the water by now.

I've never seen such a loving kitten! He plays, like all kittens, but he also whines to be pet, and he'll sleep with you ALL night. I put him in bed with Michael and me and he stayed with us all night, even coming back to bed after he used the bathroom to sleep. And when we come home from being at school or outside, he loves to run up and greet us. He also will follow us around the house. When Michael is on his laptop, Fluff will jump up onto the keyboard to get Michael's attention. He's really loving with all of us. I think he'll be really sad when my mom leaves for home on Saturday.

Anyway, I love him so much. He's my first kitten so I'm very excited about having him, and I'm extremely good about cleaning up after him completely. You wouldn't even know we had a cat, it's so clean in here. He's such a sweety! He's so loving and caring. I woke up last night with him kneading my hair and purring in my ear. He can't get enough attention from us, which is good, because we can't give him enough!

Toilet Trouble

Our toilet won't stop running. It's been doing this the past couple of weeks, but Michael always managed to jiggle something and get it to stop. But Michael has been in the bathroom for about fifteen minutes now and it won't stop!

Election Day

Election Day: Time to sit back, relax, and watch the results. I must admit, I'm pretty nervous. The polls all indicate a Bush win... but... I believe massive turnout (and the widespread voter fraud that can come with it) will help Kerry. Something said on Air America last night haunts me as well. Do Americans come out in droves to vote for the status quo? Generally not.

I hope I'm wrong.

Update 7:50AM: Something to consider. Both sides truly believe the other wants to steal this election. There's news from Philly that votes were planted on voting machines this morning. The bad news is the votes were planted. The good news is someone cared enough to catch them. We don't know who those votes were for, but they're not going to count, and that makes me feel a little better about the ability of our system to work!

Update 8:02AM: Powerline reports:

A reader in Wisconsin reports that thirty vans that the Republican Party had rented to drive their voters to the polls had their tires slashed last night.

Not very nice, Democrats!

Update 2:18PM: Exit polls show Kerry leading in FL, OH, and pretty much all the blue states. But I actually am less nervous than I was this morning. I think the chances are much greater than not that George W. Bush is the victor.

Update 2:33PM: If one assumes the exit polls are in line with the ones in 2000, Bush wins Florida, Ohio, and Michigan. (And loses NH). If he wins New Mexico and Hawaii, that gives him 300 electoral votes, though he would easily win without those two states (or Michigan for that matter.) Heck, Kerry can take Colorado too.

Of course... that's only if one assumes.

Update 3:20PM: Polipundit reports that Kerry is worried about Oregon. Reportedly exit polls are showing the race very close there... maybe even a win for Bush. Huh. I don't believe it.

Update 3:31PM: Just in case you're wondering, I recognize absolutely nobody is reading this. (Last election I had thousands of visitors... but that's what happens when I start over again) But I figure somebody will read it someday.

Update 10:56PM: The fat lady hasn't sung yet. But she's warming up.

A couple comments.

One: No matter where you voted, or who you voted for, you made a difference. Here in Washington, my vote for Bush didn't affect the actual outcome of the election. There was no doubt that this state would give it's electoral votes to John Kerry. But instead of 50,000,000 votes, George Bush got 50,000,001. And when I turn the TV on, I can literally see my vote there. That's a very cool concept. I think it's important to keep in mind.

Two: Do you think Dan Rather stayed up all last night coming up with ridiculous color commentary? He had to have, because some of it was pretty brilliant.

Three: Earlier, in response to the Bush campaigns claim that they were leading in Ohio, the Kerry campaign claimed they were living in a very different reality and saw things in a very different way. And that reality showed Ohio for Kerry. Well isn't that the problem? The Democrats are living in a very different reality. And the problem is... their "reality" isn't REAL.

Four: I don't think the Democrats are going to get a lot of support if they choose to drag out this process. Let's hope they don't choose to divide the country further.

And finally, I'll be working to overhaul this site to create a more dynamic, exciting setting for content. I'm hoping to finally automate everything, and it ought to be categorized and searchable. That ought to make things a lot more interesting... and I think it will bring in a lot more traffic, since this site has virtually no traffic and is NOT seeing any growth right now.

I'm not sure you'll see a different visual design, but the innards of the thing should be completely different very soon. Neato. Starting over is fun.

Update 11-3 3:21AM

Final Election Thoughts: Well, at least for now. I have to sleep.

I am amazed that Tom Brokaw is essentially admitting on NBC that they aren't going to project any more states for Bush because it will put him over 269. The result is dishonest reporting. Give Bush the states he deserves. Take Ohio away for the time being, if you must. Or would that be too embarrassing.

I just don't get it. It's statistically impossible for Kerry to win in Ohio... thus it's statistically impossible for Kerry to win, period. Isn't this what the networks do? They play with statistics and PROJECT a winner. Well, unless the winner is a Republican. Then it's "too close to call."

Furthermore, one of the reporters on NBC appears to be crying. At first I thought it was just me, but she just came on and her mascara had clearly been running. I guess it's hard to deal with a Bush win when you've been cocooned by the belief that America loves John Kerry.

Have you noticed I've become a lot more partisan lately? Huh.

Whatever. Now that the election is over, I guess we can expect the REAL Iraq War to begin.

December's November Volunteering Update

I've been really tired lately and I find the weather to be really icky. Michael and I had a very uneventful Halloween, with only one trick-or-treater stopping by. Michael gave her two pieces of candy, despite the fact we have a bag of 200 assorted chocolate bars. I've made myself nearly sick eating so many.

I didn't volunteer for a couple of weeks at the hospital, but I did yesterday, and it was really refreshing. Joey, the PSR and the person I work with the most, is a stressed out perfectionist who makes being there harder than it should be, and he was gone. His replacement was a sweet natured woman named Vi. I secretly wish she was the permanent PSR. It was a real girls day, with no men on our ward at all, so we all had a good time.

I've been looking into becoming a certified nursing assistant while I'm going to school, but there's virtually nowhere I can find where I can train and go to school at the same time. The nursing home wanted me to work ten hour days to train me, and the CNA training institute wants nearly $800. It's very frustrating. My college doesn't offer a program (it recently closed) so I can't get it through them either. They do offer certification in phlebotomy, though, which would give me valuable experience, so I'm considering doing that.

Michael and I are both anxiously waiting to see how this election turns out. I have a feeling it'll be as much as a circus, in terms of the lawsuits and cries of foul, that the election of 2000 was. I hope I'm wrong.

LaRouchies for Kerry

The university was overrun by members of the LaRouche PAC today, who spent their time blocking pathways and intimidating people trying to walk on them. One man wearing a Bush mask was harassing a passerby, telling him how he couldn't wait to draft him and send him to Iran. They held up signs referring to Bush as Hitler, and one referring to the size of Bush's manhood. Very mature. One called me suicidal and insane, after he got in my face and asked what I was going to do about the atrocities committed by the Bush administration. I told him I was voting for Bush.

The college Republicans were nowhere to be found, however. I walked around campus looking for them, but they must have been in hiding.

Finally the LaRouchies were confronted by University Police. I'm not sure if they went peacefully or not... I didn't stick around to see, though I can't imagine they put up too much of a fight.
